Describe a time when you told your friend an important truth IELTS CUE CARDS VINODSHARMAIELTS

Introduction.

Friendship matters a lot and when our friend is doing something wrong and unnecessary it's our duty to guide our friend. And show them the right way. Friends help each other in many ways by providing necessary things, giving genuine guidance and helping in difficult situations. Telling the truth is also a very important part of friendship.

Main Answer.

Here I am going to talk about an incident when I told an important truth to my friend.

- Who is your friend?

My friend Joe is very close to me and we are childhood friends and neighbours we share a great bond with each other and we stand by each other through thick and thin. So our friendship has lasted forever. We do not hesitate to say anything on face without having a second thought.

- What the truth was.

We study in the University together and it was our exam time. We were revising our syllabus in our garden. I was quite engrossed in my reading and I suddenly found Joe making chits for copying in the exam. I found this unethical and malpractice in the exam. He argued with me because he wanted to score high. By doing such things. I warned him and explained to him that doing this will not take him anywhere and those marks are also not useful which you score by malpractice.

- What your friend’s reaction was.

He did not like what I said but he stopped making chits and started reading. I knew that he did not like my harsh words so he was uncomfortable but it was necessary so I said it. I knew this would benefit him in long-term.

- And explain why it was important for you to tell the truth to your friend.

I consider him not only a friend but a brother from another mother so I can not see him doing such unethical things. When the results were declared and he scored good marks without doing a copy he was so proud of himself and thanked me for guiding him the right way. He promised me he will never think about doing a copy again in his academic life. I also felt good my advice became light to his life.

Follow-ups
Do you think we should tell the truth at all times?
No it is not good to tell the truth all the time. Sometimes being diplomatic is fine. If truth can benefit others then it should be told immediately.

How do you know when others are telling the truth?
We can recognise anyone by his or her facial expressions and behaviour. Whether they are speaking the truth or not.

Do you think it is important to win the game or follow the rules?
In games sportsmanship is important, winning and losing is part of the game. But following rules comes first in sportsmanship.

Sometimes people should tell lies. Do you agree?
Yes, in some emergency situations in case of death,or an accident we need to tell a white lie for the benefit of others. Telling the truth all the time does not make sense all the time.
