Describe a difficult decision that you once made.

Making important decisions is a very complex task and it's challenging also. We make many hard and soft decisions in our life. This helps us to make better decisions. Sometimes we make a decision by ourselves, otherwise we may get a council. It is always better to discuss with our guides, parents, and teachers before taking important decisions.

Main Answer.

Here I am going to talk about a difficult decision I took about my higher education.

- What the decision was.

I completed my further education from my hometown and I wanted to go abroad for my higher education. As I have learned that foreign universities offer excellent infrastructure in the form of education.

- When you made the decision.

Just after completing my higher secondary education I obtained a very good score. So in the vacation I discussed it with my father and my cousin brother and I took this difficult decision. To go abroad for my higher education.

- How long did it take you to make the decision?

It was a really a very difficult decision as my mother was not convinced to let me go abroad for education. I had to give her at least fifty examples of successful forigen education cases. Nearly after two months I convinced her and I started my IELTS coaching in my hometown.

- And explain why it was a difficult decision to make.

It was a difficult decision just because there is nobody from my family who went so far for higher education. But my friends had gone there so I decided. Parents of my close friend Joe came to my house and shared their story with my parents. So my parents were convinced to send me Canada for higher education.

Model Answer 2

Making important decisions is essential and vital. One needs to take hard decisions in order to solve problems. We can take legal advice from attorneys and lawyers in legal matters. Friends and relatives can also advise us in difficult situations.

Main Answer.

Here I am going to talk about a very difficult decision I took recently.

- What the decision was.

Recently I visited a public office for some legal paperwork for my new office. And I was asked to pay a bribe to get work done. This is totally against my ethics. I decided to consult my legal advisor who is a popular lawyer in my town. to take strict action and register a complaint against the officer.

- When you made the decision.

I made the decision immediately when I was asked to pay a bribe. I contacted my attorney and took legal guidance from him. He suggested that I collect all documents and proof to file a legal suit against the officer.

- How long did it take you to make the decision?

It took a week to collect all the proof and CCTV footage and some call recording. Regarding the bribe with the advice of friends and parents I made it clear to fight this legal case and I hired my legal advisor to fight this case.

- And explain why it was a difficult decision to make.

It was really a difficult decision because the case was against an officer and he had contacts in different offices. So I had to be clear in papers and my legal documents. I knew this case was strong and I was going to win. In the end my advocate presented my case strongly in front of the judge and the officer was suspended. So this was the most difficult decision I made.

Which is easier, making a decision by oneself or making a decision after a group discussion?

It is always easy to make a decision by ourselves. We are confident about our knowledge and experience so we can judge any situation easily, while working in a group gives input from others that's also beneficial in making decisions. Yes but one thing is sure you should select a proper group to discuss your issue. Otherwise people can confuse and misguide you.

Why are many young people unwilling to listen to their parent’s advice?

Today there is a generation gap between parents and children so children think their parents are so reserved and they stop them going forward. And parents feel today children are so stubborn in nature they don't take advice from parents, guardians. And elders.

Why do middle-aged people tend to second guess their decision?

Middle aged people have good experiences in life and they know things better than others. They take counsel before making any decision and they listen to experts and experienced people so sometimes they tend to second guess. They don't hesitate to change their decision if they feel they are wrong or they have taken a decision in hurdle.
