Main Answer

Here I am going to talk about a situation when I told the truth to my close friend.

- Who is your friend?

My friend Joe is my close buddy. We share a strong bond of relationship from childhood. We study together, play games and Hangout with each other.

- What the truth was

I found that Joe 's behaviour changed from some time and he was staying away from me and he became friends with some bad guys and I found that he had started drinking alcohol and smoking. I thought this would harm his academics and health.

I never wanted to loose my friend and thought bad for him so I decided to tell him what he is doing and consequence of his behaviour.

- What your friend’s reaction was.

Joe did not like it when I told him the truth; he was enjoying the bad company and having fun. But when results were declared and he failed he came to me and he was feeling sorry for his behaviour. He apologized to his parents for his activities and promised to never repeat.

- And explain why it was important for you to tell the truth to your friend.

It was extremely important for me to tell the truth as he is like a brother to me and I never want him to do such activities and harm his career and health so I decided to tell him the truth. Sometimes we have to make hard decisions in friendship and make a call. If something wrong is happening.

Follow-ups

Do you think we should tell the truth at all times?

No it is not good to tell the truth all the time. Sometimes being diplomatic is fine. If truth can benefit others then it should be told immediately.

How do you know when others are telling the truth?

We can recognise anyone by his or her facial expressions and behaviour. Whether they are speaking the truth or not.

Do you think it is important to win the game or follow the rules?

In games sportsmanship is important, winning and losing is part of the game. But following rules comes first in sportsmanship.

Sometimes people should tell lies. Do you agree?

Yes, in some emergency situations in case of death,or an accident we need to tell a white lie for the benefit of others. Telling the truth all the time does not make sense all the time.
